Paradise In The Heart Of The Ecuadorian Jungle - Unique Opportunity of Buying Forest in the Begining of the Ecuadorian Amazon On Cosanga parish, in the province of Napo, in the entrance to the Ecuadorian Amazon, just two hours from the international airport of Quito, the capital ...
Cosanga is a small town and area that attracts bird-watchers, biologists and nature lovers to its expansive cloud forests and high-altitude rain forests. Located 20 kilometers (13 mi) south of Baeza on the road from Baeza to Tena, where the high Andes plummet down into the Amazon at about 1,800 meters to 2,400 meters (5,905-7,874 ft) in altitude, the Cosanga area is one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet. The area is an important biological corridor connecting the Antisana National Reserve with the expansive Cayambe-Coca Reserve and served as a pre-Columbian route between the highlands and the Oriente. The area is one of the best studied and understood areas of the high Amazon basin, thanks mostly to the Yanayacu Biological Reserve and its steady stream of visiting biologists over the years.
The climate is humid (that means it rains a lot, so bring a light rain coat) and has a near perfect year-round temperature. The Camino de los Caucheros (2 km/1.3 mi west of the town of Cosanga off the main highway), is a beautiful drive or bike ride where several (mostly private) trails are accessible. The area is also excellent for hiking, road and mountain biking and advanced white water kayaking.
