CHARMING COUNTRY HOUSE FOR SALE IN COTACACHI – ECUADOR
The town of Cotacachi is situated in the province of Imbabura, in the north of Ecuador. Quito, the capital city, is at one and a half hours away by car. Closer are Otavalo, the cultural center of the Andean Kichwa society, at 20 minutes, and Ibarra, the capital of the province, at 40 minutes.
It’s our pleasure to present this beautiful country house, built in a rural area at just five minutes walking from the edge of Cotacachi. The view from the house at both sides towards the volcanoes Mama Cotacachi and Taita Imbabura is just spectacular and ever-changing. The lot measures 1550 m² and is part of an open compound, called ‘El Rosario, Campo Andino’. The house itself covers 133 m². The wall around the property is made of redbrick with black iron fences and sturdy pillars. Also, trees have been planted all around the house forming a ‘living fence’ and an effective wind breaker. There are several native plants, fruit trees, and a small vegetable garden. The tallest trees go up to 7 meters. We’ve planted alder, pumamakis, sambucus, paper tree (polylepis), bougainvillea, lavender, blackberry, various citric fruit trees and a palm tree. The entrance has a gate of 2.5 m high and 5 meters wide. There’s also a seperate tower shed, built in matching style. The shed has an steel door and measures 3 x 3 x 3. It supports the water tank and the pressure pump. The house is fully up and running and is connected to the town’s water and electricity networks and the internet.
Instead of a septic pit, the house has its own cleaning plant. All the water that comes out of the house is cleaned. The water cleaning system contains three revision boxes, a biodigestor ‘Rotoplas’, a filtering pool with water plants, and a pond with plants and fish.
The house has two parts: the family home and the studio. The studio is a completely independent space. It has its own shower, sink and toilet, an enormous stowage (5m²), and a room spacious enough for a double bed and a desk.
There are three bedrooms in the family home, two bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen and dining room, and a laundry room. The living boasts a big round fireplace with iron and glass doors. In the kitchen, there are three granite working spaces, and it has enough space for a large fridge and a stove. There is an extra 220V connection for electric stoves. Outside, at the back of the house, there is a charming little storage for the gas tanks and the water heater. It has wrought iron doors in the same style as all the windows and backdoor. The master bathroom contains a metal bathtub, a shower with river stone floor, a sink, a toilet, and a closet. The shared bathroom has a shower, a sink, a toilet, and a closet. The bedrooms all have big, built-in wardrobes. Another big storage closet is found in the hall. In the laundry room there is enough space for three machines and it has gas, water and electricity connections (110V and 220V).
The ceilings are made of concrete, supported by an open wooden vault. All floors are made of brick tiles, except that of the kitchen, which is made of polished tiles. All showers have water resistant walls and have been painted using aging techniques. The walls of the construction were been built with red brick and covered with plaster. All edges are round. The entire house is protected by iron fences and an iron backdoor, with organic patterns of leaves and branches. All doors and windows are made of laurel wood. The impressive, rounded front door is six centimeters thick.
